Dear Detour Faithful,

Some of you know, and some of you have been asking where the Detour posts are and why we haven’t posted recently. Well, it’s official. And, as difficult as it may be, it’s time to say goodbye. As Broadway said goodbye to CATS after 7,485 performances, and television viewers said goodbye to M*A*S*H after 11 seasons, we must say goodbye to *this version* of The Denver Detour.

We are officially closing the Denver Detour Campus doors and concluding this great run of providing you with our singular take on daily Denver happenings–our news missives and events musings–and thank all you readers for your support. Oh yes, and there’s the traffic info–the all-important means by which we’ve been communicating.

In the classic style of the old western movies, the handsome hero rides his trusty steed into the setting sun …? Well, ok … we’re not doing that, but while all of us at the Denver Detour Campus may not be riding into the sunset, we are broadening our horizons. To get you up to date on our whereabouts, here’s a quick installment of the Daily Denver Detour Campus water cooler gang’s “Where are they now?”

Scott: The fearless 3D posse leader and entrepreneur continues to travel the exciting roads of invention and business having recently discovered THE Font of Knowledge … yes, THE very one. We don’t expect to hear from Scott for a while.

AJ: The genius behind the genius of the Unnamed Thing and the 3D accepts job with a global think tank where his patented Increased Productivity through Focused Relaxation linking is recognized as a possible means to achieve world peace.

Alouicious “Al” Alderston
: Consummate public relations person that Al is, he continues serving the public dutifully at the local AAA where he provides driving tips and travel advice to happy, satisfied AAA members.

Earl: Formerly our physical plant manager for the Detour campus, Earl is pursuing his dream and is currently the manager of the high-altitude garden of the Denver Botanic Gardens. You may find him contentedly tending to his prize-winning Yucca.

As always, be assured that Traffic.com will continue to provide you with real-time traffic updates and alerts, and will continue to wow you with the quality and accuracy of the services. Traffic.com is working hard to find the best ways to provide you with the traffic info you need and content you find interesting.

So, this is not as much a goodbye as much as it is … until we meet again.

Boy, it was actually kind of chilly here Saturday and Sunday in the evenings. The cold snapped us out of our summer stupor, and made us search around on the internet for a new link to put here.

This is a contest similar to one the old MyTrafficNews did way back in the day where we had readers submit haiku of what signs might say if they could talk. The Washington Post has a weekly contest, and in this version they let readers come up with some snarky stuff to put on signs. Our favorite is the caps-lock one.

Thanks for reading, and if you have any thoughts at all about the Detour, please feel free to contact Scott using the link on this page.

Dear Faithful Reader,

As you know, the formerly Unnamed Thing has gone through some radical changes over the last few months. It continues to evolve, and we’re committed to finding the right format, delivery mechanism, and more.

And while we go through that process, we’re going to send the Daily Detour on a detour of its own, driving it around some twists and turns. Hold on … it will be worth the trip.

We’ll still show up here once a week or so, letting you know about our progress, perhaps sharing a link, like this one to a story about how the Brits are now reading the license plate of speeders and then displaying it on an electric sign to shame them into slowing down. (Actually, it sounds OK to us, much better than getting a ticket in the mail!)

We’ll also have some Increased Productivity links, and we’ll let you know about what’s going on not only with the Detour, but with all of Traffic.com.

So, do check here, and we’ll let you know when we have new news.

As always, thanks for reading!

The Detour is on a small detour.

Really, we’re just too caught up in the Roadtrip!

See you soon.
